Οn November 10th, 2022 at 19:01, the JRCC received an urgent information from the captain of the cruise ship "AMBIENCE", Bahamas flag, while sailing 69 nautical miles southwest of Cyprus, referring to a medical incident on board with a 82years old passenger. The patient was demonstrating heard attack symptoms and medical evacuation was needed urgently.
The JRCC immediately activated the National Search and Rescue Plan "NEARCHOS" and after medical consultation (MEDICO) from a doctor of Nicosia General Hospital, scrambled the helicopter of the 460 Search and Rescue Squadron of the National Guard with a registered nurse on board from the Ambulance Services to air evacuate the patient.
Finally, the patient delivered at 21:35 to Limassol General Hospital for further medical treatment.
