On January 19th 2018, the Deputy Commander of the US European Command, Admiral Fred I. Pyle paid an informative visit to the “ZENON” Coordination Center of the JRCC Larnaca.

The Admiral was briefed by the Commander of the Centre, Commodore NAVY Costas Fitiris, on the organization, operation and the ongoing upgrade programs of the JRCC and of the Search and Rescue System of the Republic of Cyprus, but also on the additional capabilities provided by the “ZENON” Coordination Center in crisis and evacuation incidents in the Middle East.

The Admiral expressed his satisfaction regarding the overall organization and operational readiness of the JRCC, as well as the crucial and key role that is capable of playing in, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations in the Eastern Mediterranean.
