On Friday the 12th of October 2018, JRCC Larnaca participated to the Regional Seminar on “Crisis Management Plans in Aviation”, organized by the Mediterranean Flight Safety Foundation and HERMES Airports and presented its view about the «Emergency and Contingency Plans in Search and Rescue».
The aim of the Seminar was to present several possible emergency incidents that may occur and affect negatively the aviation and other related activities. Additionally, the Seminar highlighted the necessity of the preparation of a detailed emergency and/or contingency response plan for any of the above-mentioned incidents and underlined the important role played by the appropriate State Authority in order those plans to be coordinated and supervised effectively. Furthermore, the seminar aimed through open discussion to identify any possible room for improvement and came to conclusions - suggestions on possible ways in overcoming any existing problems.
At the opening of the Seminar, the “FSF-MED LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” was presented to Commodore Costas Fitiris for his great contribution and effort made the last 8 years for the upgrade of the National Search and Rescue System of the Republic of Cyprus.
