On October 10th 2018, representatives of the member states of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency – FRONTEX, participating to the Analysis Layer User Group meeting hosted by the Cyprus Police, and headed by the Chairman of the meeting, Mr. Juan Francisco Romero, visited the JRCC Larnaca.

The participants were briefed on the organization, operation and the upgraded role that the Search and Rescue System of the Republic of Cyprus is capable of undertaking in case of crisis and evacuation of population from states of the Middle East to Cyprus, , as well as for the ongoing upgrade programs of the JRCC Larnaca as well as of the Search and Rescue System, in general.

Mr. Romero, expressed his gratitude and satisfaction regarding the overall organization and operational readiness of the Search and Rescue System of the RoC, as well as of its key role in the Eastern Mediterranean in confronting with SAR incidents and supporting any humanitarian operation.
