On Wednesday November 29th, 2023, a Joint Search and Rescue exercise named "CYPITA 01/23" was conducted, with the participation of SAR Units and personnel from the Republic of Cyprus and ITALY, under the coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, in close cooperation with the Italian Navy.

The exercise was carried out under the framework of the Cyprus Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program with the signed by the 2 States, and executed in a sea area within the Search and Rescue Region of the Republic of Cyprus. ΝΗ-90 helicopter and the Amphibious Transport Dock «ITS SAN GIUSTO», from the Italian Navy and the CNS «TSOMAKIS» of the Cyprus Navy Command of the National Guard were participated in the exercise.
