The meeting takes place on an annual basis, hosted each year by a State associated to the Cospas – Sarsat Programme as a Ground Segment Provider by operating a Mission Control Center. Since the 5th of November 2019, the Cyprus Mission Control Center (CYMCC) has been Operational with the Nicosia FIR as its Service Area.
The meeting, which was hosted in Cyprus for the first time, was aiming to exchange experiences and thoughts, to evaluate and further improve the quality of the SAR services provided. Also, issues related to the forthcoming evolutions of the Satellite System are discussed.
The Republic of Cyprus participation in the Programme as a Ground Segment Provider has always been a high priority which upgrades the role of our island in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, as well as in the global SAR community.
