On Monday, July 22nd, at 00:15, the JRCC Larnaca received an emergency call from the cruise ship "CROWN IRIS", informing that a 43-year-old Israeli passenger is having a serious health problem and due to the criticality of his condition, his immediate transfer to a hospital in Republic of Cyprus was required. The ship was sailing 40 nautical miles west of Paphos, within the Search and Rescue area of the Republic of Cyprus.


As a result, the JRCC immediately activated the "NEARCHOS" National Search and Rescue Plan, by sending one helicopter of the 460 Search and Rescue Squadron, with a specialised nurse of the State Health Service, that transferred the passenger to the General Hospital in Paphos.
