On the 20th of April 2018, delegation of officials of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) paid an informative visit to the JRCC and “ZENON” Coordination Center. The delegation consisted of military and police officers and State officials of Lebanon, as well as of the ICMPD Experts.
The purpose of the visit was for the delegates to be briefed on the organization, operation and the ongoing upgrade programs of the 2 Centers, and the additional capabilities that the “ZENON” Coordination Center may provide in case of crisis and evacuation of population from states of the Middle East to Cyprus, as well as on the effort, in which JRCC Larnaca supports, for establishment of a Rescue Coordination Center in Lebanon.
The delegates expressed their satisfaction regarding the overall organization and operational readiness of the JRCC, as well as the crucial and key role that are capable of playing in SAR, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations in the Eastern Mediterranean.
