The exercise was conducted in an area within the Athens FIR, under the coordination of the Air Sector of the National Search and Rescue Coordination Centre of Piraeus.
The exercise was conducted with the participation of Greek assets, the JRCC Larnaca/ops room, and one (1) AW-139 helicopter of the 460 SAR Squadron of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus.
The participation of personnel and assets in joint exercises highlights the close cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and the Hellenic Republic and it demonstrates their readiness to undertake any SAR mission, where required. At the same time, they provide the opportunity for the practical implementation of the procedures included in the existing Greek and Cypriot Intergovernmental Search and Rescue Agreement.
