On August 24th 2018, the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Cyprus H.E Mr. Stephen Lillie, paid an informative visit to the “ZENON” Coordination Center.

The High Commissioner, after being briefed by the Commander of the Center, Commodore Costas Fitiris, on the organization, operation and the ongoing upgrade programs of the Center, had an informative tour of the center. The British Consular expressed his gratitude and satisfaction regarding the overall organization and operational readiness of the Center to confront any SAR incident within the Eastern Mediterranean, including Mass Evacuation Operations of Non – Combatant population from a crisis area in the Middle East region.
Additionally, discussion was held regarding the development of the existing cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Cyprus on SAR matters through participation of aeronautical means of Great Britain in international exercises and operations under the coordination of the JRCC, within the Exclusive Economic Zone and the Search and Rescue Region of the Republic of Cyprus.
