On Tuesday, 16 January 2024, the Executive Director of the European Fisheries Control Agency, Ms Susan Steele, paid a visit to the JRCC premises, as part of her official visit to Cyprus.
Ms. Steele was given a briefing by the Commander and Staff of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) on how the Centre is organized and operates for the coordination of Search and Rescue (SAR) incidents within its area of responsibility, Nicosia Flight Information Region (FIR). Additionally, informed about the supportive role and cooperation of the Centre with the Department of Marine Research and Fisheries (DFMR) of the Republic of Cyprus on issues related to marine pollution, illegal fishing, and other related matters.
