On Wednesday February 14th, 2024, a Joint Search and Rescue exercise named "CYPFRA 01/24" was conducted, between SAR Units and personnel from the Cyprus and France. The exercise was carried out in the maritime area within the Search and Rescue Region of the Republic of Cyprus with the participation of the Frigate « FS PROVENCE» and it organic ΝΗ-90 helicopter, from the French Navy, the CNS «IOANNIDES» of the Navy Command, an AW-139 helicopter of the 460SAR SQN of the Airforce Command of the National Guard, and a registered nurse of the MEDEVAC Special Team from the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organization.

The operational control and coordination were under the Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Center, in close cooperation with the involved services and assets. The exercise is included in the 2024 Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program signed by the 2 States.
