JRCC Larnaca announces that today, March ,21st, 2025 at 14:00, has suspended the Search and Rescue operation, commenced on the 16th of March 2025, regarding missing persons due to a capsized migrant’s boat off the coast of Cyprus. During the six days of the operation, 2 survivors and 7 deceased persons were found in the sea and recovered, as mentioned in the previous press releases. Since then, no other missing persons have been located.

In the operation participated a helicopter, two warships and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from the National Guard, a helicopter of the Cyprus Police Aviation Unit, six vessels of the Port and Marine Police, Nurses of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organization, British Bases’ helicopters, as well as commercial vessels sailing in the region. The operation lasted a total of 134 hours and covered an area of 2750 square nautical miles (5093 square kilometers).

JRCC Larnaca is in full readiness to relaunch the operation in case new information is available.
