During his official visit to Cyprus on Friday, March 29, 2024, Rear Admiral Stefano Frumento, the Italian Commander of the Mediterraneo Sicuro operation, visited the JRCC Larnaca to learn about the organization and operation of the Search and Rescue System in the Republic of Cyprus. The Commander and staff of the JRCC Larnaca provided the Admiral also with information on the role of the Center in evacuating civilians from crisis areas in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
Taking advantage of the visit, the Admiral and the JRCC Commander discussed common actions to improve cooperation in SAR-related matters, as well as issues due to the increase in migration flows in the Mediterranean Sea.
