Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Center

The Naval command of the National Guard contributes decisively to the conduction of SAR operations within the area of responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus.

Main mean in this effort are the patrol vessels of the Coastal Patrol Command, which have been repeatedly involved in SAR missions, both near the coast and at great distances from their bases and often under severe conditions.

Very important is the contribution to SAR missions coming from the Underwater Demolition Unit of the Naval Command. The high speed vessels of Underwater Demolition Unit play an essential role in SAR operations near the coast, while the divers’ contribution is crucial in cases of underwater search.

Apart from the Units of Naval Command which offer staff and resources for the proper execution of SAR missions, we should emphasize the important contribution of Coastal Surveillance Command. By the use of modern electronics, it supervises the national maritime space and offers JRCC the capability to coordinate safely and effectively SAR operations.
