On 03 July 2022 at 21:15, the JRCC Larnaca received information by the Larnaca District Police Headquarters regarding a missing male swimmer, 86 years old, in the Meneou sea area in Larnaca.
JRCC Larnaca immediately activated the National SAR Plan "NEARCHOS" and immediately mobilized a fast patrol boat of the Port and Maritime Police, a fast patrol boat of the Larnaca Airport Lifeguard Team, a foot patrol of the Kiti Police Station and a vehicle with a thermal camera of JRCC’s Coastal Surveillance System to carry out search 0perations in the area of the incident.
At 22:15, after extensive searches the person was unfortunately found dead.
