A 5-day Search and Rescue training, which was attended by a delegation of 10 officers of the Lebanese Navy and Air Force and 1 officer of the Training Section of UNIFIL’s MTF, was completed today, Friday, 15 October 2021.
Specifically, Officers of the JRCC provided training to the above personnel, related to the "Basic" level of coordinating SAR operations and its curriculum was prepared in the context of preparing the Lebanese Officers who will man the new JRCC in Beirut.
This training activity demonstrates in practice the intention of the Republic of Cyprus to support the efforts of the neighbouring Lebanese state to establish its own JRCC, in accordance with the provisions of the International Organizations, contributing significantly to the increase of safety in the Eastern Mediterranean region, while at the same time strengthening the efforts of JRCC Larnaca to become a Centre for Education, Training and the provision of expertise on SAR related subjects.
